The British Institute of Hypnotherapy is a long established non-profit making association of
hypnotherapists and NLP practitioners, who are committed to the highest standards of ethical practice
and professional competence, and are completely independent of all training organizations or school
registers. It is BIH policy to pursue the principle of ensuring their members have had access to
adequate training initially and to promote ongoing training for those members who are already in
practice.
Gary is also a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register which is the
administrating agency for The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. The GHR
is the largest Professional Register of Hypnotherapists in the UK by far, with a
database exceeding 8,000 individual Practitioners.

The BIH and GHSC are members of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations
(UKCHO) which is a national umbrella confederation of over 30 reputable hypnotherapy
organisations each completely independent in its own right but still conforming to the high
standards of competence set by the UKCHO.
It is the aim of UKCHO to promote the professional regulation of hypnotherapy within the
United Kingdom, to ensure that Hypnotherapists are safe and competent to practice, and
that they adhere to national standards of ethics and training. From January 2008, UKCHO
have added a register of individual hypnotherapists, not just organisations, to their website
so that members of the public can check whether a therapist is registered. This register
can be accessed by clicking on the UKCHO logo above. Gary Oke's UKCHO registration
number is 81525.
